Eggplant
Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 08:25PM My husband Mike made the most delicious eggplant dish tonight. Really, it was to die for! We were enjoying our dinner immensely and then Mike pauses, fork mid-air, and says "This is so good I almost don't want to eat it!" We both laughed and then continued our chow down with gusto.
Funny thing was, I knew exactly what he meant. Don't we always try to save the best for last? Sometimes saving it forever because, well, the time for the best has just not arrived yet? Or maybe we think we don't quite deserve it yet, whatever it is. Or maybe the time is not perfect enough to contain such a perfect thing. Whatever the thinking is, it is probably flawed at best. Why shouldn't we have the best there is in this very moment? This very moment is the only moment we really have, the past being gone and the future not yet here, and while it may not be perfect (whatever that is) it most certainly can contain perfect things.
